Cheerleaders truly are a cultural icon in America. For over 100 years, cheerleading squads have been waving pom poms and getting the crowds excited and spirited. In a moment of happy nostalgia, the New York Times reflected on the good ole days of cheer, saying of the spirited athletes, “Cheerleaders are their teams’ most loyal supporters.
