Every month is a big month for cheerleading news but we rounded up a few of our top stories and topics that are must-reads for the month. This month, we took a look at some very serious topics, including leaving a team and helping a friend with a difficult problem. We lightened things up with some inspirational news stories and shared CheerLiving magazine’s exciting new project. Possibly the biggest news of the month was the launch of a new cheer show created by CheerLiving magazine, sponsored by Chasse, and produced by Cheer Channel. You can check out the premiere episode, as well as the second episode, on the blog. This month we focused on several serious problems a friend may have and how you can help him or her recover. Learn how to help out your friend if she has an eating disorder, or other serious problem. While we all know that leaving a cheer team or losing your coach or captain is hard, but many don’t realize that complaining about a teammate can be just as difficult. Learn how to handle such a scenario with maturity and avoid causing more drama. A big story in the news was the suspension of the entire Towson cheerleading squad after a few teammates were accused of hazing. Their case and trial was a big example of why it’s so important for cheerleaders to be on their best behavior and understand that their actions reflect their entire team. We all know the value of stretching. It helps prevent injuries and keeps us limber and flexible. But did you know that yoga can greatly improve your cheer skills? Read this cheerleader’s story about how yoga changed her life. Let’s end on a spirited note, shall we? This month a high school cheerleader set a Guinness World Record for most back handsprings in a row. Watch her complete 42 back handsprings across a football field!
