6 Traits of Super Successful Cheerleaders

It takes more than good tumbling skills and flexibility to become a super successful cheerleader. While those skills are important, there are other elements a cheerleader needs to stand out and rise to the top. We looked at several successful cheerleaders and created a list of their traits that make them so wonderful. Eating right. How do the top cheerleaders work so hard at practice and perform so well at competitions? They eat healthy snacks and meals. Elle Smith starts off her day with a big, healthy breakfast to stay energized and focused all day long. Before practice and competitions, Maddie Gardner eats light snacks that are healthy and protein-filled so she stays energized without feeling too full. Being organized. You can’t get everything done without keeping track of your schedule and commitments. Maddie Gardner would never be able to balance college, cheer, hosting “Cheer Mashup,” and representing Chasse without organization skills and maintaining a schedule. Never giving up. Do you think any of Cheer Channel’s Superstars of All Stars learned a stunt on the first try? No way! No matter how skilled you are, it takes time to learn a new stunt, cheer, or tumble. Those that are the best at something worked hard to get to that level! They persevered through all the falls and stumbles until they mastered it. Staying positive. Whether you’re bummed out because of a loss, upset over a new stunt, or stressed about your schedule, the most successful cheerleaders push through and keep their heads held high. If you find yourself feeling low, use your cheer spirit to stay positive and tell yourself that you can do it! Learning from a loss. It’s one thing to be able to stay positive after a loss. It’s another to learn from the experience and know how you can do better next time. The most successful cheerleaders don’t dwell on losing. Instead, they learn from their mistakes. Inspiring other cheerleaders. This just might be what we love most about cheerleaders like Elle Smith, Maddie Gardner, and the Superstars of All Stars. They aren’t just incredible cheerleaders; they’re incredible role models. They inspire other cheerleaders to work hard, stay positive, and reach for the stars. The top cheerleaders understand their influence over younger cheerleaders and make the most of it by leading by example and giving advice and tips for success. What cheerleader inspires you?
