It’s the end of the school year and spring season, which means it’s time to say goodbye to some of your squad mates – the seniors! Whether you’ve known them for one or three years, it’s always sad to see teammates leave. Show them how much you’ll miss them the cheerleader way – with spirit! Here are a few ideas for sending off seniors that will be fun and memorable. Let the seniors do a senior performance! It’s a bit of a reverse celebration. For your end-of-the-year celebrations – whether you host a fun show or a banquet – ask the seniors if they’d like to create and perform their own routine. Make sure you give them enough time to prepare! Create a slide show. At banquet or your last meeting, present the seniors with a slideshow that includes pictures of the squad over the past year (or several years). If you really want to make it memorable, take the time to reach out to their parents and ask for some pictures of them as younger cheerleaders. Add some music and the smiles and tears will immediately begin! Make personalized gifts. This could be anything, from a scrapbook to a decorated picture frame. Whatever you do, make it special and cheer-related! Some simple ideas include: decorated pillowcase, a cheer bow keychain, personalized mug, etc. A day trip. Even if you’re on a tight budget, you can plan a small day trip for the squad. Have a picnic or a “cheer off” in the park; spend an afternoon at the beach and have a sand castle building contest. The options are endless! Host a “last meal.” Show the seniors how special they are by treating them to a meal! Whether you cook a meal or order catering, treat the seniors to some of their favorite foods. Serve the seniors first and don’t forget dessert! Whatever you choose to do, your seniors will love it! Remember, it’s the thought that counts so don’t think you have to spend a lot of money to make it special. Are you planning anything special for your senior cheerleaders?
