Cheerleaders Win the Battle for a New Home

It’s your “aww” moment of the day. Across the pond in Shoebury, England, the two-year battle for a new cheerleading practice space has ended in victory for the Essex Stars cheerleading squad. Over the years, the team had hopes of settling into an empty warehouse and the Southend Council has agreed to the move. Squad owner Rachel Blatch told the Southern Standard, “We’ve been trying to find a site for two years. The entire journey has been emotional. We are ecstatic to have got the decision we deserve.” Previously, the council was against the cheerleading organization from using the warehouse because they were afraid there wasn’t enough parking available and would affect the parking of surrounding businesses. The organization teaches cheerleading at every primary school in the neighborhood. There are 80 members, with ages ranging from three to 35.
