Cheerleading is life and, as this squad proves, is also for life. In Arizona, the Sun City Poms cheer squad has just one requirement to join - you must be at least 55 years old. The Sun City Poms cheerleaders dazzle in sequined uniforms, with gold pom poms at their sides. The organization has been around since 1979 and is still going strong. Don't expect a few shuffles and pom waves. The team members practice three times a week and perform up to 50 times a year. Many members can do the splits and high kicks!

Reported by TODAY, Shirley Hoffman, a 77-year-old member of the team, said that being a cheerleader for the Sun City Poms, "gives me confidence and makes me feel young."

Nancy Walker, age 64, added, "you really have to push yourself. You have to get out of your comfort zone and do something you didn't think you ever could do."
