We’re smack dab in the middle of summer, and the last thing you want to think about is August starting… with school to follow! Can’t it just be friends, and fun, and cheer camp forever?? As you attend camp and return home, remember to bask in the glory of one more summer month and enjoy every last minute of it! The end is near! Before we burst your summer bubble with thoughts of heading back to school, let’s reminisce about July a little more in the top cheerleading news of the month! Summer months are busy times for most people, so just in case you’ve been caught up livin’ it up on the beach or by the pool, here is the news you need to know:

  • Have you been jet-setting around with your family on vacation lately? It’s great to get out and see the world, but the last thing a cheerleader needs is to let go of fitness goals as they travel–especially after working hard all cheer season long to get in such peak condition! Luckily, CheerLiving® Magazine recognizes this conundrum in their latest episode “How To Stay Fit on Vacation”, even detailing ways cheerleaders can “accidentally exercise” while away from home. Talk about some fitness hacks!

  • Parents–do you sometimes question the credentials of your child’s cheer coach? Coaches have to be qualified in order to lead a team successfully, but what exactly makes or breaks a cheer coach? With so many bases to cover, does a cheer coach need actual cheerleading experience? What about a college degree or a background in sports medicine? A coach embodying all of these elements would be ideal, but the question is, should these things be mandatory? We present you with information, now it’s up to you to decide.

  • Cheerleading is hard. Due to its difficulty, cheerleaders walk away from it with a wide range of skills–character traits that can be applied to all areas of life! You might not even notice it, but cheerleading teaches you a lot more than just how to jump, and tuck, and tumble. One cheerleader recently revealed The Most Important Life Lesson You Learn in Cheerleading, and by acquiring it, what this one particular lesson can do for you and your future goals. What do you think it is??

  • OK, so we said above that the last thing you want to do right now is entertain the thought of heading back to school… but you unfortunately have to face the music at some point. Since school represents the official death of summer (so sad, we know), we made it a little easier for you to swallow with an explanation of how to go about it in GIFs. Don’t be sad: Gearing Up for School After Summer Break doesn’t mean that it won’t be fun! Who knows? You might just realize, deep down, that you’ve really been missing school this whole time. Maybe. Just maybe.
