Get all the prom tips from Cheerleading Blog by downloading the free Cheerleading Guide To Planning The Perfect Prom! Prom is just a few weeks away, and whether it’s your first or last time attending, the key to a fairy tale evening is in the planning. I may be lacking the official Fairy Godmother title, and that all-important wand, but that doesn’t mean I can’t help you make a truly magical memory!” The BIG DAY is almost here! Hopefully you have spent the last few weeks preparing and planning, and only have a few small details to worry about now. Planning your final steps can be the hardest part, since you are starting to get more excited about prom. Use this review to make sure you don’t forget anything that you need to do before, during or after prom. Before Prom Charge your camera. Nothing will spoil your big day faster than not being able to snap all the memories. Pack for post prom activities. If you are going away for the weekend after prom, don’t wait until the last minute to get your stuff together. Have your bags organized and packed a day or two before prom day. Do a dress rehearsal. Try on your dress, shoes and accessories and make sure everything fits and looks good as a package. If you need to do any last minute changes, it’s better to know ahead of time so you aren’t stressed about it on prom day. Prom Day Eat a good breakfast! You have a busy day ahead of you, so nourish your body the way you would before a cheerleading practice or performance to keep your energy up. Start with a hearty breakfast, and take breaks for small snacks throughout the day. Wear a button up shirt to your hair appointment. If you have to pull your shirt over your head to change into your dress, you risk ruining your amazing hairdo. Stay worry free, and picture perfect, by wearing a button down shirt until it is time to put your dress on. Pick up your flowers. Make sure you or your date pick up the corsage and boutonniere, or arrange for someone to pick them up. Be prepared to smile. A lot. Prom is a big deal for parents too! Be sure to leave plenty of time to take pictures with them and other family members (and try not to lose your patience with them when they get teary eyed!). Tip: Take your formal couple and group pictures early in the night, before you dance your heart out, when your hair and makeup will be at their best. Stock your purse with these items to be prepared for anything: gum, nail file, makeup, comfortable change of shoes, bobby pins, safety pins, hairspray, cash and don’t forget your charged camera! After Prom Consider donating your dress. Find a local dress drive organization and donate your dress to help another girl have her dream night. Preserve your flowers for scrap booking. Keep some flowers from your corsage to preserve for your prom scrap book. They will make a great accent to your pages! Send thank you notes and photos. Don’t forget to send your formal prom photo to grandparents, aunts, uncles and other relatives. It is also a nice touch to send a thank you note to your hair dresser, makeup artist and anyone else that helped you prepare for your big day, with a photo included. Be sure to communicate the night’s plan with your parent or guardian, to ease their minds, and in case of an emergency. Finally, have fun! Don’t get so caught up in having a “perfect” night that you forget to enjoy yourself. Get crazy on the dance floor, laugh your butt off and make a ton of memories!
